New movie project for Mamie
Posted: 2007-08-16

Mamie will be starring opposite Ellen Burstyn, David Strathairn, Chris Evans and Ann Margret in "Loss of a Teardrop Diamond". The film is based on Tennessee Williams play of the same name and stars Bryce Dallas Howard as Fisher Willow, the disliked 1920s Memphis debutante daughter of a plantation owner with a distaste for narrow-minded people and a penchant for shocking and insulting those around her. After returning from studies overseas, Fisher falls in love with Jimmy (Chris Evans), the down-and-out son of an alcoholic father and an insane mother. She tries to pass him off as an upper-class suitor to appease the spinster aunt who controls her familys fortune. But when Fisher loses a diamond, it places her relationship with Jimmy in further jeopardy. No word yet on what part Mamie will be playing. Many thanks to Caladonia for the news.

"Evening" comes to DVD this September
Posted: 2007-08-16

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced it will bring the adult drama 'Evening' to HD DVD this fall. Despite a once-in-a-lifetime cast featuring Meryl Streep, Vanessa Redgrave, Glenn Close, Toni Collette and Claire Danes, 'Evening' was a critical and commercial bust in theaters earlier this summer, barely scraping up a $15 million domestic gross. Universal will give the flick another shot on video September 25, when it debuts the HD DVD day-and-date with the standard-def DVD version. Tech specs include 1080p/VC-1 video, and audio options in Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround and Dolby Digital-Plus 5.1 Surround. Extras include two behind-the-scenes featurettes, and deleted scenes.

"The Autumn Garden" premiere and video interview

"The Autumn Garden", the Lilian Hellman play in which Mamie stars as Sophie Tuckerman, will have its premiere tomorrow at the Williamstown Theatre Festival. NY1 News has had a report on the festival, including an interview with Mamie, which you can download in the Multimedia section.

Here's a transcript of the report: Also on hand this summer at Will-iamstown is actress Mamie Gummer who was recently seen performing opposite her mother Meryl Streep in the film “Evening.” From August 15th through the 26th she's appearing in Lillian Hellman's "The Autumn Garden." The show marks Gummer's Williamstown debut but she's no stranger to the festival. "I grew up around here, and so I grew up coming to the theatre around here and it's always been a dream,” says Gummer. “I remember I saw Gywneth Paltrow do as you like it and just was so blown away by the whole thing and just this feeling of summer camp but also producing something extraordinary, hopefully."
