Ten-year old Chris Marino lives with lives
in a blue-collar beach town with his uncommunicative father and his mother Mary, who
suffers from schizophrenia. He attempts to conceal his mother’s illness, but her bizarre
public behavior alienates him from other kids at school, and widens the
growing rift between father and son. When Mary’s illness leads her to
violence, endangering her family and herself, until she gets hospitalized,
John’s dream is to take Mary sailing again, in the boat he promised her years ago. |
