Marcia receives SAG nomination with "Into the Wild" ensemble

Congratulations to Marcia and the cast of "Into the Wild" for receiving a Screen Actors
Guild Award nomination in the category of Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
"Into the Wild" received further nominations for Male Lead (Emile Hirsch), Male Supporting
(Hal Holbrook) and Female Supporting (Catherine Keener). The awards will be handed out on January 27, 2008. This is Marcia's second
Ensemble nod, she was previously nominated with the "Mystic River" actors.
Marcia to star in "The Lonely Maiden"

Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden pulled into Back Bay Station yesterday to begin filming
“The Lonely Maiden.” The “Mystic River” star will play the wife of Christopher Walken in
the comedy about three museum guards - Walken, Morgan Freeman and William H. Macy - who
plot to steal the eponymous piece of art because they hear it is being shipped off to
another museum. Word is, Walken’s character moves from obsessing over the art to learning
the true value of the lovely Maiden he married.
Marcia supports Obama with "Broadway Night"

The US 2008 presidential race has arrived on Broadway with a special one-night event
featuring Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, entitled Barack on
Broadway. On September 24, Obama will be appearing at the New Amsterdam Theater,
currently the home of Mary Poppins, with numerous Broadway personalities including
Christine Ebersole, Marcia Gay Harden, Ruben Santiago Hudson, Kristen Johnson,
Phylicia Rashad, Jeffrey Wright, and the Broadway Inspirational Voices. The evening
will be directed by Tony Award winner George C Wolfe and will feature readings of
the works from some of America’s most famous playwrights, including Eugene O’Neil,
Arthur Miller, Thornton Wilder, Clifford Odets, Tennessee Williams, David Mamet,
Tony Kushner and August Wilson.
No Emmy Award for Marcia

During the Creative Emmy Awards ceremony, the first trophies were handed out, mostly
in the technique categories, but also to the nominated guest actors and actresses. The
Emmy Award for Best Guest Actress went to Leslie Caron and her guest spot in "Law & Order
Special Victims Unit" for which Marcia was nominated as well. However, Marcia attended
the event and also appeared on stage, presenting an Emmy award to Elaine Stitch.
"The Dead Girl" wins Grand Prize at Deauville Film Festival

Andre Techine and his jury breathed life into Karen Moncrieff's "The Dead Girl,"
awarding it the 33rd Deauville American Film Festival's grand prize as the 10-day
celebration of trans-Atlantic cinema wrapped Sunday night. The discovery of the
mysterious dead girl shatters the lives of complete strangers tied together by her
brutal murder in this picture. The film was written and directed by Moncrieff and
produced by First Look Studios and Lakeshore Entertainment. It features Toni
Collette, Marcia Gay Harden and Giovanni Ribisi. "The fact that you, with your culture
and your film culture, are here honoring American movies is really astounding to me,"
Moncrieff said in her acceptance of the honor.

National Alliance of Mental Illness honors "Canvas"

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) will honor the film "Canvas" with an
"Outstanding Media Award" for a dramatic motion picture at its annual convention that
opens today in San Diego. The award will be presented to director/writer Joseph Greco
and actors Joe Pantoliano and Devon Gearhart on Friday, June 22 at a special
screening of the film. Sharing in the award is actress Marcia Gay Harden. CANVAS is
scheduled for release in theaters in New York, Chicago, Phoenix, Ft. Lauderdale and
Boston on October 12, 2007 through Screen Media Films. It was screened privately at
the 2006 NAMI convention, where it received an emotional standing ovation. The NAMI
award praises the film for its "accurate, balanced and compassionate" portrayal of a
family transformed by mental illness. Academy Award winner Harden plays Mary Marino,
a mother, who becomes ill with schizophrenia.
Marcia signs on as a Tony Award presenter

will be joining the already stellar line-up of presenters at the 61st Annual Tony
Awards. Zach Braff, Matthew Broderick, Harvey Fierstein, Marvin Hamlisch, Marcia Gay
Harden, Mark Indelicato, John Kander, Patti LuPone, Bebe Neuwirth, Donny Osmond,
Bernadette Peters, and Ben Vereen, among others, will take the stage at Radio City
Music Hall on Sunday, June 10th. The Tony Awards will be broadcast live from Radio
City Music Hall on CBS, Sunday, June 10th, 8:00 – 11:00 p.m. The 2007 Tony Awards

Harden honored at Sarasota Film Festival

The Sarasota Film Festival Competition and Audience Awards were announced at a
reception on April 22, 2007. The Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature went to
"Canvas", directed by Joseph Greco. And at the Luncheon at the Banyan’s event the
Regal Entertainment Group’s Career Achievement Award was presented to Academy Award®
winner, Marcia Gay Harden and Joe Pantoliano, who co-starred together in "Canvas".
Hopefully these recognitions will help "Canvas" getting a theatrical release soon.
Marcia Gay Harden joins "Cottage"

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Marcia Gay Harden is set to star in painter
Thomas Kinkade biopic "The Christmas Cottage" for Lionsgate and the Firm. Jared
Padalecki ("Supernatural") has the role of Kinkade; Harden will play the painter's
mother. Peter O'Toole also is set to star. Helmer Michael Campus will begin lensing
in Vancouver this month from a script by Ken LaZebnik. Story is based on the events
that led to Kinkade becoming an artist. Harden, in theaters with "The Hoax," will
next be seen starring in director David Goyer's "The Invisible," which opens April
27. In September, she'll be seen in Paramount Vantage's "Into the Wild."
Marcia to star in Stephen King's "The Mist"

According to Entertainment Tonight, the big-screen adaptation of Stephen King's
horror novella, "The Mist", has begun production, with director Frank Darabont at the
helm, according to Daily Variety. Marcia Gay Harden, Toby Jones, Thomas Jane and
Andre Braugher star in the story of people who attempt to survive in a supermarket
after a deadly mist covers their town, unleashing deadly creatures. 'The Mist' marks
director Darabont's third King story film adaptation, after 'The Green Mile' and
'The Shawshank Redemption.' Marcia will play Mrs. Carmody.
"Canvas" will be screened at AFI Dallas Film Festival

"The Invisible" to stay under wraps until April

Hollywood Pictures has announced ‘The Invisible’ – directed by David Goyer, writer of
‘Batman Begins’ and the “Blade” trilogy – has a new release date of April 13, 2007.
The sci-fi thriller was originally scheduled for release January 12 2007. Starring
Justin Chatwin and Marcia Gay Harden the movie is about a writer who finds himself
trapped between the world of the living and the dead-completely invisible to the
living. Nick (Chatwin) has a bright future until he is brutally attacked and left for
dead. Now in limbo, his only chance to live again is to figure out the mystery of
what happened to him and why, before his time runs out.
