"The Dead Girl" review, early Oscar consideration
Posted: 2006-11-26Variety has posted a very interestig article on the upcoming "The Dead Girl". Click here to read the full article, the part about Marcia's performance is below. "The emotionally riveting "The Mother" features an exceptional Marcia Gay Harden as Melora, who is told the dead girl found in the field is her runway daughter Krista (Brittany Murphy). Melora ventures to the fleabag motel where Krista last stayed with bedraggled hooker Rosetta (Kerry Washington). A fine study of a grieving mother's stunned realization of how far her child had actually drifted from her, this piece - like the opener and "The Wife" - has the gravitas of a well-drawn short story". Also, "The Dead Girl" is receiving Oscar consideration ads by its studio First Look Studios. Marcia is listed - as all actresses - as Best Supporting Actress. Nominations may be however a long shot since the film is having a limited release on December 29 in New York theaters before its wider release in 2007.
