Harden, Howard to Be Honored at This Is Tisch! Gala
Posted: 2009-08-18 Tony and Academy Award-winning actress Marcia Gay Harden will be honored during the Nov. 2 This Is Tisch! fundraising gala at the Frederick P. Rose Hall. Spike Lee, Brett Ratner and Sir Howard Stringer serve as honorary chairs for the event that honors Harden (God of Carnage, Angels in America) as well as director and producer Ron Howard; Image Entertainment founder Brian Grazer; The Charles & Lucille King Family Foundation president Diana King; and HBO Documentary and Programming president Sheila Nevins. Stafford Arima (Altar Boyz) directs the 7 PM evening that is produced by Ken Davenport (Altar Boyz, My First Time) and executive produced by Mary Schmidt Campbell. Playwright Tony Kushner will present Harden with her honor, while Spike Lee will present Nevins with hers, and Stringer will present Grazer's honor. An additional presenter will be announced. "I am very proud to be honored by Tisch on November 2nd," Harden said in a statement. "The education and training that I received there enabled me to find my voice as a young artist and gave me the skill and confidence that I needed to succeed in a very competitive field. What I am most proud of, though, is what Tisch is doing today to reach and enroll those students in this country, and even around the world, who have a great gift, but who are not able to afford or access the fantastic training that I received."  God of Carnage Extends Broadway Run Through February 2010
Posted: 2009-08-18"God of Carnage", Yasmina Reza’s Tony Award-winning dark comedy, will continue its Broadway run at least through February 2010. A production spokesperson confirms that tickets for the smash-hit play are now on sale through February 28. The four-person original cast is currently contracted through November 14 at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre. After opening on Broadway on March 22, 2009, "God of Carnage" quickly become one of the biggest successes of the season, routinely out-selling many large-scale musicals. For the week ending July 26, the final week before closing for a six-week summer hiatus, Carnage grossed more than $1 million, a rare feat for a play. The celebrated original cast agreed to return to Broadway on September 8 for a 10-week extension; no word on whether any of them will remain with the show through the winter. Posted: 2009-08-14Today, Marcia celebrates her 50th birthday! Another special occasion to celebrate this year, after her triumph with "God of Carnage" and winning the Best Actress Tony Award. Plus, this September, Marcia could score her first Emmy Award for "The Corageous Heart of Irena Sendler", which would make her one of the very few actors who've won an Oscar, a Tony and an Emmy (no pressure here :-). May her astonishing career continue just as versatile and brilliant as it is now! Congratulations on turning 50! "Casa De Los Babys" DVD screencaptures
